A LITTLE CONTEXT

For the love of a good book.

ReaderPool helps you decide what to read next: a book to spend time with. It is a community recommendation site, not a book hosting service. Members nominate and boost titles in one shared pool. Six are chosen ahead of voting, and each region picks its own winner.

How ReaderPool works →

How the six are chosen

Members can label their nominations as hidden gem suggestions: overlooked books, older favourites or new discoveries they think deserve discovery. The two most-boosted eligible suggestions take the discovery places, then four of the most-boosted remaining nominations complete the six. If there are fewer than two suggestions, the most-boosted other eligible picks fill the spaces. Ties use nomination age, then ID. External popularity and ratings do not determine these places. Founder picks are labelled. During this early trial, sample accounts, discussions, boosts and results demonstrate how the site works.

Regions and results

Europe uses London time, North America East uses New York, North America West uses Los Angeles, and Asia-Pacific uses Sydney. Voting runs Friday through Thursday in each reference city. Each week opens at 00:00 Friday and closes at 00:00 the following Friday, immediately after Thursday ends. Your own local clock may differ. A vote locks your choice and region for that edition. Ties use shortlist order; a ballot with no votes has no winner.

Essential cookies & your data

We use a signed browser identity cookie to remember weekly votes, a session cookie for sign-in and regional preference, and a CSRF cookie to protect forms. The voting identity lasts up to a year; only a keyed hash of its random identifier is stored. Signing in can associate this identity with your account to prevent another vote. Clearing cookies or changing devices can bypass anonymous voting limits.

Your nickname, nominations and comments are public. Votes and browser identities are private to site administrators. There are no advertising trackers. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics for aggregate traffic and page-performance statistics without analytics cookies. Do not include sensitive personal information in public posts.

Cloudflare Turnstile checks signup requests to help prevent automated account creation. It processes browser and device signals for this security check.

Community

Keep pitches spoiler-free. Mark spoilers in discussions, be kind, and report spam or abusive comments for moderator review. You can permanently delete your account from your profile. Account details and boosts are removed, and comment text is deleted while replies remain. Nominations and their pitches remain without your username; existing votes and results remain without an account link. This is an early community trial. Keep your own copy of any pitch or comment you want to retain. For account or moderation help, contact william@wdrowan.com.

Book data & covers

Book search, metadata, cover images and available synopses are provided by Open Library, an Internet Archive initiative. ReaderPool is an independent project and is not endorsed by Open Library.

ReaderPool and BingePool share the same community-first approach: good picks, better pitches.
